Buenos Dias!

It has sure been a marvelous halloween weekend here in Chiclayo!

Hermana Flor and her little daughter Nikolle were baptized on Saturday. It was an incredible experience, the meeting was BEAUTIFUL and the spirit was so dang strong. It was perfect. They're perfect.

So a little more background on sweet Flor... she went to church for the first time when she was 15 and has been to MANY different wards as she's moved around Northern Peru since then. She has had the missionary lessons many times but was never really interested in changing her way of life. A few years ago her oldest daughter Kayssi was baptized but she still wasn't interested. Within the last few months ONCE AGAIN the Lord extended His merciful hand to her one more time to be able to accept or reject His message. She had several baptismal dates before I arrived here in the area but they all fell through. When I arrived the sisters had actually stopped visiting her. They could never find her, she didn't progress or keep commitments, etc. BUT! My first day here, Hermana Nelson, being prompted by the spirit 100%, said, "let's go try this one lady I have visited before, but if it doesn't go well, I'm totally find not coming back here." Well... we found her in a moment of need, we invited her to make the necessary changes in her life, and she committed to do it.

Alma the younger taught us that we all "must be born again, yea, born of God, changed from their carnal and fallen state, to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming His sons and daughters; and thus becoming new creatures," (Moses 27:25-26).

Never in my mission have I seen a change quite as drastic as that of Flor. Surely she was "redeemed from the gall of bitterness and bonds of iniquity" she was "in the darkest abyss, but now (she) beholds the marvelous light of God" (Moses 27:29).

There was a new light in her eyes the moment she stepped out of her baptismal interview, an even brighter light as she stood to bear her testimony at the baptism, and we could ALL behold that "marvelous light of God" in her when she received the Holy Ghost. She is a new person now. She is still beautiful, sassy, classy Flor, but with a changed heart. She has become as HER child, Nikolle, "submissive, meek, humble, patient, and full of love," (Moses 3:19).

Flor and Nikolle are great examples to me. I'm still working on my own change of heart, it's definitely a process. One day I'll be a changed, NEW creature like them and my Savior. ALl is possible thanks to HIs outstretched arms of mercy. SO grateful that He let me be changed by helping them be baptized. I love them. And all of you. And my Savior.

HASTA LA PROXIMA SEMANA!
