Week #1 has been WONDERFUL. Long but wonderful. I know when I sent my "I'm safe" email last week I said I would tell you about traveling but really it wasn't that interesting. Basically as soon as the goodbyes were over my tears and sadness were GONE. It was suddenly all exciting! I haven't cried since (well, from sadness HA!). As soon as I landed in Atlanta I met up with about a dozen elders that were scared of me, being a sister... but they took good care of me. They were sweethearts! We got in about 2AM but it all worked out.
So life in the CCM! The food is SO good but there is a strict rule that you have to eat every thing on your plate so I don't know how everyone doesn't gain 50 pounds! I'm doing my best haha... Also the living conditions are better than they could be a better than they will be in the field, so all is well! A typical day looks like this:
- 6am wake up
- 645 breakfast
- 730 personal study
- 830 classes
- 12 lunch
- 1 more classes
- 3 physical activity
- 430 more classes
- 6 dinner
- 7 classes
- 9 planning
- 930 get ready for bed slash journal ( i cant figure out a slash on this computer)
- 1030 lights out
Our teachers are THE BEST. Love them so much. They only speak Spanish to us but they understand most English so its perfect. Our classes are with our district (8 elders and hermana Monson and I). AHH HERMANA MONSON. Having her as a companera is the best blessing here. She is from Sandy, Utah and is the sweetest soul ever! She makes me better every day. We have been fast friends (smiley face).
WOW the gift of tongues is CRAZY REAL. I seriously already understand all of what our teachers say and its only been likie 6 days of classes!! I know that Lord has been helping us out every step of the way because of our righteous desires to use his gifts to share His message. I also know that you cant just sit back and wait for his help to come. The spirit can only put the words you need in your mouth is you open it and TRY. This sunday I decided to take a leap of faith and bear my testimony in Spanish. I didn't know that I was gonna say but I was just gonna open my mouth and try! I felt like the Children of Israel marching into the Red Sea with wet feet. Because I showed Heavenly Father that I was willing, I was blessed and able to say exactly what I wanted to that day. Also I only pray in Spanish now, it's the best!! The Lord understands... (smiley)
I love the CCM. It is so hard but it is wonderful. Some of the rules are dumb (no pics except in certain places and times on PDay, no music at all, PDay is only until 3:30, not 6PM) BUT.... exact obedience brings miracles so I obey and hope for the miracles and help to come. I have already seen that hard work brings happiness out here. When we think about our purpose rather than ourselves, it is easy to be happy and PUMPED when making these sacrifices.
// TRANSLATION // Our goal is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. I know that this is the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that families are forever. I know my Lord through their lives and the Atonement, we can return to God. I know that because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, I can do hard things. I'm grateful for my chance to be a missionary. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. //
